“You’re showering or.. cleaning the oven, it doesn’t matter.. slowly, the little voice becomes apparent. It becomes clearer and before you know it, you’re flipping switches and warming up all the equipment.. the tune comes from the depths of somewhere you don’t understand nor have ever been.. but it doesn’t matter once it starts..you know that you have to get it out before it leaves you in the same vacuum you were in before you heard it’s first faint notes.  And you work like an idiot.. not sure of the time or of hunger.. until, hours later, you come up for air. And then, before you know it, it’s done. And you listen to it.. and you can hardly even remember having done it.. and you know that the voice inside has finished and once again, all is quiet. And now you can go back to being who you really are. That’s what it’s like for me, at least.. until, once again, I hear the plantive cry of.. that little voice who I call.. Johnny Nowhere”

Becky Rose

Becky Rose

Becky Rose is an 18 years old artist from Worcester, UK. As a singer/songwriter, she plays the keyboard and write and arrange her own music at home. Music is her big passion, and though she enjoys being a normal teenager, she hopes to get that break someday and would love to have a music career.

Her songs are usually inspired by moods. According to her, the most extreme of her emotions provoke the best of her music. ‘Silly Little Boy’ was written in a moment of sadness and loneliness, whereas ‘Motorway’ got its inspiration in the thrill of going to places she’s never been to before. ‘Sweet Reality’ was based on a time when miserable aspects didn’t matter in life if she had the people she loved.

Your brand new website…

7 July 2010

I’m certain most independent artists think about having a great website, full of gadgets, like the ones the big stars use to have, so that the fan are impressed and think “Wow! That artist must be great!”… Well, to be honest I’m not sure this makes so much sense for us, indie artists… (more…)

David Slater aka “limey59″

26 June 2010

David Slater is the kind of fan a band MUST HAVE. There isn’t any more loyal, helpful and dedicated person than Dave. When you insist in giving you music for free, and your fan insist in paying you in return, then you already know you found THE person that fully understood what fanship means, and mean that special relationship where the fan and the band are like friends.

Dave was one of the first persons to assist my live composition broadcasts on ustream.tv and to give feedback, feelings and even suggesting a title for a song. He certainly deserved the special dedicated track “Dave’s Mystic Dreamscape” that was composed in his online presence.

So in honor of Dave and his kind of fanship, I decided to open a special section on Skloogs Music dedicated to fanship, with featured fans. If we had just featured artists and no fans, what would be the purpose of it all? So, let’s feature fans too!!

The final words go to David: “It’s ALL about the music, and there is GREAT music on this site [ReverbNation], if you just take the time to LISTEN! If you have time, drop over to http://imglobal.ning.com WHERE THE MUSIC MEETS! SUPPORT LOCAL, THINK GLOBAL! IMGlobal© (FREE promotion for members only) {YES it’s FREE!}”

Thanks, Dave!

The Merricks

Markee from The Merricks

I’m a puzzler, playing with all the sounds I can find. My first instrument is electric guitar. Then, I love to play with all kinds of real or unreal instruments. My aim is to make understand to everyone that noise doesn’t exists: it’s just a bright sound we’re unable to apprehend.

PeerGum

PeerGum

PeerGum is born in 2009. Its leader and currently only musician is Philippe Hilger, instigator of the musical project, songwriter, composer and keyboard player.

PeerGum is producing a music that varies between Pop, Rock and World music, counting within its strongest influences progressive rock bands like Saga, Marillion, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Alan Parson’s Project, Camel, and a lot of other; pop music: Supertramp, George Michael, David Bowie, The Pet Shop Boys, A-ha, Duran-Duran, and more; and some recent successful artists like Eminem, Linkin’ Park, Incubus, Lady Gaga, and a bunch of others.

PeerGum’s music is about feelings and quality. For that reason, one of the premises of the project was to distribute freely its music, through MP3s, so that money shoudn’t be the reason behind the music, avoiding to fall into commercial and soulless music.

PeerGum released its first album in the beginning of 2010, The Traveler, available in CD or MP3s. The traveler is fully instrumental and was initially built around the concept of Stock Exchange Trading, which is quite an uncommon musical theme. However, the first 5 tracks only are related to that theme, and the composition of the last 4 tracks of the album made its author change the theme to traveling.

The band is presently working on its second album, that should be named 2012, focused on the public fear and uncertainty about the year 2012. The second album should have a much more dynamic sound that its predecessor, and is no more instrumental. The planned release date is July/August 2010.
